जाती हुई ठंड में बहुत ज्यादा गर्म पानी और ठंडे पानी से न नहाएं बल्कि गुनगुने पानी का ही इस्तेमाल करें। ज्यादा गर्म पानी आपकी त्वचा को हानि पहुंचा सकता है।  विटामिन सी से भरपूर खाद्य पदार्थों को भोजन में अवश्य शामिल करें। साथ ही ड्रायफ्रूट्स, सीजनल फ्रूट्स तथा दूध अवश्य लें। केवल शेखी बघारने के लिए या किसी की देखादेखी गर्म कपड़े न पहनने की गलती न करें। खासतौर पर अपने सिर, कान तथा सीने को ढंकने वाले गर्म कपड़े अवश्य पहनें।   खाने में हरी सब्जियां तथा सलाद अवश्य शामिल करें। सर्दी के मौसम में अक्सर प्यास कम लगती है, लेकिन आप भरपूर पानी पीने की आदत को बनाए रखें।   घर के दरवाज़े-खिड़कियां बिलकुल पैक न करें। ताजी हवा को घर में आने दें। इसी तरह हीटर की गर्मी में भी ज्यादा देर न रहें।
