Homemade Facials

The benefits of the various ingredients in these recipes.
Oranges, Lemons, Pineapple: brightens and exfoliates the skin and purifies the pores. Provides a dose of pure vitamin C. Pineapple is the strongest- It is a potent source of enzymes that soften the skin and is a natural astringent.
Yogurt: softens, hydrates, and has many enzymes that exfoliate the skin; cleanser; bleach.
Coconut Milk: the lactic acid smoothes out the skin.
Rose Water: gently balances and tones.
Olive oil: known for its great effects on the skin. The best for dry skin.
Avocado: moisturizes and is a good source of vitamin E and natural oils.
Milk: contains lactic acid which nourishes without stripping the skin of essential oils; refines pores; soothes all skin types; cools sunburn.
Aloe gel: an ageless remedy for burns.
Honey: a natural, gently astringent yet extremely moisturizing; refines pores; tightens skin; retards wrinkles; anti-blemish.
Chamomile: tones all types of complexions.
Oatmeal: soothes; heals; relieves itching.
Cucumber: reduces under-eye puffiness; reduces wrinkles.
Egg: conditions; whites best for normal and oily skin; yolks for dry to normal skin
Nuts: used in scrubs to refine pores and combat wrinkles, blackheads and dryness.
Tomato: unclogs pores.
Vinegar: refines pores; cleans; softens; aids blemishes, itchy skin, and sunburn.
Witch Hazel: reduces eye puffiness; deodorant.

FACIALS RECIPES:
For best results, follow this sequence:
1- cleanse your skin, (then tone if you need it) 2- massage in a scrub to exfoliate and remove the dead skin, 3- then steam your face over a pot of boiling water splash on some hot water to open the pores, 4- then massage in the Mask from below and leave on for atleast 10 minutes (RELAX), 5- wash off gently and finish with a splash of cool water to close the pores. ENJOY!!
In making any of these recipes, any unused portion needs to be refrigerated and can last for approximately one week. In general, masks are cooling and soothing for the skin.
CLEANSERS
Milk cleanser (for oily skin)
To cleanse and exfoliate, mix 1 tsp. powdered milk with 1 tsp. water and gently massage into skin for 2 minutes. 
Yogurt Cleanser (for sensitive skin)                                                                                                                                                  Cleanse and exfoliate in one step by mixing 1 tsp. baking soda with 1 tsp. plain yogurt.  Apply mixture and leave on for 2 minutes, then gently massage into skin.  Rinse well with warm water.  (Note:  This combination gently cleans pores, removes dead cells and softens dry, sensitive skin without irritation.)  
Oatmeal Cleanser (for sensitive skin)                                                                                                                                                  Mix ½ cup oatmeal or cornmeal with enough plain yogurt to form a paste. Then smooth over entire face – avoiding the eye area. Rinse with cool water.
TONERS
Lemon Juice Toner (for oily skin)
Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice with a cotton ball
Rose Water Toner (for sensitive skin)
To gently balance and tone, apply rose water with a cotton ball.
MASKS
Avocado Yogurt Mask (for dry skin)
Puree 1 ripe avocado and blend with 4 tbsp. plain yogurt. Apply to face and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Oatmeal Banana Yogurt Facial (for dry skin)
Cleanse face, steam, splash with cool water and pat dry. Massage with 1 tbsp. dry oatmeal. Rinse off. Then apply a mask made by mixing 2 ounces yogurt and ½ a banana; spread evenly on face. Leave on for 20 minutes; rinse off.
Lemon Mask (for dry skin)
Mix 2 egg yolks, 1 tsp. olive oil, and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Wash your face, spread on the mixture, leave on for 10 minutes, and then wash it off.
Egg Honey Mask (for dry skin)
Mix 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp. honey until a light paste is formed. Apply to face and neck, avoiding eye area and mouth. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Coconut Milk and Pineapple Mask (for oily skin)
Mask twice a week with a combination of 1 tsp. fresh pineapple juice, 1 tsp. warm coconut milk and 1-1/2 tsp. cornstarch.  Apply to the face and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. 
Cucumber Mask (for oily skin)
Puree ½ a cucumber, 1 egg white, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, and 1 tsp. milk
Tomato Mint Yeast Mask (for oily skin)
Boil 1 tomatoes in hot water, let cool and then peel the skin. Crush the tomatoes and remove the seeds. Add 1 tbsp. peppermint leaves, ½ tbsp. dried yeast, and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Apply to face for 10 minutes 3x a week.
Olive Oil and Avocado Mask (for sensitive skin)
Mask twice a week by combining 1/2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil and 1-1/2 tsp. mashed avocado.  Chill mixture briefly, then massage into skin and leave on for 5 minutes.  Remove mask with a soft cotton cloth. 
Coconut and pineapple mask (for combination skin)                                                                                              
Mix 1 tsp. warm coconut milk with 1 tsp. cornstarch and 1 tsp. pineapple juice. 
Peaches ‘n’ Cream Mask (for normal skin)
Cook one medium peach until soft and mash it with a fork. Then add 1 tbsp. of honey and a little oatmeal until it’s a think consistency. Apply the paste to your skin and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse well with cool water.
Yogurt Antioxidant, Anti-wrinkle Mask (for normal skin)
Combine 1 tsp. fresh orange juice and 1 tsp. plain yogurt.  Apply the mixture to your skin and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Apple Mask (for normal skin)
In a blender, process 1 cored and quartered apple. Then add 2 tbsp. honey and ½ tsp. sage. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Pat the mixture onto the face with a light tapping motion, tapping until the honey feels tacky. Leave mask on for 30 minutes, then rinse.
Avocado Honey Mask
Peel and slice 1 large, ripe avocado and puree it in a blender with the honey. Apply the mask to your face by patting it gently and then continuing to pat until the mask feels extremely tacky to the touch. Relax and leave the mask on for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
Avocado Egg White Mask
Mash ½ a ripe avocado into a thick paste. Mix in 1 egg white. Apply to face and leave on 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
SCRUBS
Almond Honey Scrub
Mix 2 tbsp. crushed almonds with 1 tbsp. honey. Smooth on face and leave on for 5 minutes. Rub in well, then rinse.
Yogurt Almond Scrub (for blemished skin)
Mix 3 tbsp. ground almonds and ½ c. yogurt. Massage into face and then rinse with cool water.
Almond Mayonnaise Scrub (for very dry skin)
Grind ¼ c. almonds in blender until they form a meal. Whirl in 1/8 tsp. mayonnaise. First, rinse your skin with vinegar. Then rub in the scrub gently and thoroughly. Leave on skin for 10 minutes. Rinse off and follow with Vinegar rinse.
Brown Sugar Scrub
Mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar, 1/2 cup sweet almond oil, 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon ground oatmeal,1 teaspoon nutmeg, large pinch calendula petals. Place in jar with tight lid.
Mint Oatmeal Scrub
Combine in a blender 1 cup rolled oats and ¼ cup dried mint until coarsely ground. Keep in a jar by the sink. Use a handful of the scrub with water to gently clean your face. 
LOTIONS AND CREAMS
Chamomile Honey Lotion
Steep 1 c. dried chamomile in 1 cup milk for a few hours. Strain, keeping the liquid. Add 4 tbsp. Honey and 8 tsp. wheat germ to liquid mixture. Blend well and place in a bottle.
Anti-Aging Cream
Combine 1 ounce glycerin, 1 ounce witch hazel, ½ ounce rose water, 3 tbsp. honey, and 3 tbsp. wheat germ oil. Massage the cream into your skin using a circular and upward motion. Store in a tightly sealed container at room temperature. It should last for at least 1 month.
SKIN PROBLEM SOLVERS:
For Sunburn: Aloe and Honey Mask
For any skin type, mix 1 tsp. aloe gel and 1 tsp. honey, apply to skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Then rinse with warm water. 
For over-sunned faces: Grape Facial
Crush 1 c. green grapes to a pulp. Add 1 tsp. honey or 1 egg yolk. Leave on damp skin for 15 min and then rinse.
For blemished skin: Oatmeal Tomato Mask
Blend 1 ripe tomato, 1 tsp. lemon juice, and 1 tbsp. instant oatmeal or rolled oats. Apply to skin, making sure the mixture is staying on the blemished areas. Add a bit more oatmeal to thicken the mask, if necessary. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes, then scrub off with a clean washcloth dipped in warm water.
For wrinkles: Cucumber Cream
Blend ½ a cucumber (with skin) with 1 egg white, 2 tbsp. mayonnaise, and ½ cup olive oil. Apply morning and evening, and gently wipe off with tissues.
Freckles: Wheat Flour Vinegar Scrub
Mix whole wheat flour with vinegar and apply to freckles and dark spots.
For acne or pimples:
·        Nutmeg mixed with milk
·        3 tbsp. honey mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon powder overnight
·        1 tsp. lemon juice mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon powder
·        Fresh garlic
·        Fresh mint juice
·        Lime juice mixed with boiled milk
·        Equal parts lime juice and Rose water, leave for 20 min.
·        Grated potatoes
Dark circles under eyes:
·        Cover eye with slices of raw potato or cucumber
·        Lemon juice 2 x a day
·        Crushed mint
·        Almond oil
